System administrator – Valenciennes – European Commission
At The Whiteam, we are looking for a System administrator to join our team in collaboration with European Public Agencies.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Administer ERA AWS Global Landing Zone: Manage the overall infrastructure and workloads, ensuring they meet service level requirements.
• Installation and Maintenance: Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade the components of the Global Landing Zone and its workloads, ensuring continuous operation.
• Operational Continuity: Keep the solution operational according to established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Incident Management: Assist with incident resolution, maintain an incidents database, and contribute to a knowledge base.
• Problem Diagnosis: Investigate and resolve issues affecting the solution’s performance or functionality.
• Testing and Deployment: Test upgrades or changes planned for the solution, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing services.
• Change Management: Plan, schedule, and implement changes to the solution, with minimal impact on users and services.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to the solution's components (networking, systems, etc.).
• Security and Integrity: Ensure compliance with agency procedures to maintain the integrity and security of the solution.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with teams across the OPD Unit and external partners to ensure smooth platform operations.
• DevOps Collaboration: Work closely with DevOps Experts to automate the management and maintenance of the platform, ensuring high availability.
Education and Qualifications:
• Education: Minimum 6 years of relevant education and/or professional experience after secondary school.
• Professional Experience:
o At least 4 years of professional IT experience covering the responsibilities listed above.
o Minimum 2 years of professional experience as an AWS SysOps Administrator.
• Certifications:
o AWS SysOps Administrator Associate certification (required).
o AWS DevOps Engineer Professional (preferred).
o AWS Security Specialty (preferred).
o AWS Advanced Networking Specialty (preferred).
Knowledge and Skills:
• AWS Expertise:
o Deep knowledge of AWS services, tools, and the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
o Proficiency in AWS Management Console and AWS CLI.
o Expert-level understanding of networking concepts on AWS and the Internet.
o Ability to implement architectural requirements like high availability, performance optimization, and capacity planning.
o Experience with resilience planning (business continuity, disaster recovery).
• Incident and Problem Management: Expertise in managing AWS-related incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and proposing effective solutions.
• Security: Solid understanding of security best practices for AWS infrastructure.
• Automation & Infrastructure: Experience in building and managing highly automated infrastructures using tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and AWS CDK.
• Operating Systems: Experience managing both Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows Server in a professional environment.
• DevOps & Development: Familiarity with modern DevOps methodologies, tools like GitLab and GitHub, and microservices-based architectures.
• Serverless Technologies: Experience working with serverless technologies like AWS Lambda, ECS, EKS.
• Additional Knowledge (Preferred):
o Semantic, ontology, and linked data technologies.
o Knowledge Graph Databases (e.g., Virtuoso).
Work Environment and Tools:
The working environment involves managing various cutting-edge technologies and AWS services. The technologies and tools include but are not limited to:
• AWS Services: EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS, AWS Networking, CloudFormation, Cloud Development Kit, etc.
• Development Tools: GitLab, GitHub, Terraform.
• Operating Systems: Linux (Ubuntu), Windows Server.
• Authentication/Authorization: Integration with Azure Active Directory.
• Databases: Virtuoso DB.
