Virtualization Engineer, Warsaw (Near site) – EU Public Organisations

Profile: Virtualization Engineer (VMWare vSphere).

Place of performance: Frontex Headquarters (Onsite) – 70% onsite / 30% remote. Candidates must be based within two hours of Warsaw.

Duration of the mission: 48 months.

Minimum level of education: Level 6.

Minimum English language skills (CEFR): B2.

Minimum IT relevant professional experience (years): 5.

Minimum experience at similar position (years): 2.

Rate: 290 €/day (NWH); 376€/day (EWH); 5.38 €/hour (On-Call Duties).

• Expected NWH: 230 days × 4 years.

• Expected EWH: 12 days × 4 years.

• Expected On-Call: 1600 hours × 4 years.

Required certificates:

• Security Clearance: EU Restricted. (Must be valid from the first day of assignment).

Knowledge and skills:

• Proven experience in administering complex, large‑scale virtualized environments, including VMware vSphere and/or Nutanix platforms.

• Practical experience with monitoring tools for virtual environments, such as VMware Aria Operations or equivalent solutions.

• Experience performing updates, upgrades, and lifecycle management of virtualization platforms and related components.

• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP networking, including basic concepts related to virtual networking.

• Experience working in multi‑team operational environments, collaborating with different support and infrastructure teams.

• Practical experience with ticketing systems and ITIL‑based processes, including change, configuration, and release management.

• Experience with ITIL-based processes, including change, configuration, and release management.

Specific Requirements

• VMware VCP-DCV 6.x or higher (or related similar certification).

• Nutanix Certified Professional – Multicloud Infrastructure (NCP-MCI).

• Proven experience with VMware vSAN.

• Proven experience with HPE SAN Storage arrays, such as HPE Primera.

• Ability to work in environments requiring RESTREINT UE / EU RESTRICTED security clearance from the first day of assignment.

• Availability to work onsite at Frontex Headquarters according to the defined intramuros/extramuros ratio.

Typical Tasks and Responsibilities

• Administering and operating the virtual computing environment, primarily based on VMware vSphere.

• Administering and maintaining monitoring solutions for virtual environments.

• Performing patch management activities for virtualization platforms and related components.

• Managing backup and restore operations for virtualized systems.

• Administering, supporting, and monitoring hardware servers, fibre-optic fabrics, and data storage systems.

• Troubleshooting incidents and problems related to virtual environments.

• Performing tuning, optimization, and capacity planning for virtual infrastructures.

• Recommending and implementing best practices and security standards in virtualization environments.

• Updating and maintaining technical documentation, operational procedures, and runbooks.

• Implementing changes in accordance with ICT change management procedures.

• Providing 2nd-line support to other IT teams and coordinating with 3rd-line support when required.

• Participating in coordination and project meetings.

• Performing other profile-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
